Re: The Mysteries of Toadmanship
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 7:56 PMToads are very easy pets to keep, not terribly demanding, easy to care for. And they are just too cool for words, perfect Zen Masters :) They can live for several years. Check with a good pet store that specializes in herps for specific instructions.
Do you have an electronic copy of your thesis that I could look at? I'm fascinated by all things Frog and Toad. Also, do you have any more material on Cultus Sabbitcus? I've never heard of them, and online searches under several different spellings yield nothing.

Re: The Mysteries of Toadmanship
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 11:39 PMHEre is some info on the CS folks:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_D._Chumbley
As for my thesis, it was based on the book ecstasies by Carlo Ginzburg and I am not sure if it exists in this plane any more.
There is also a section on Bufo in my favorite book Prisma by F. Vermeulen.
I just ordered the other book suggested and will give a review when it gets here.

Re: The Mysteries of Toadmanship
Tue, January 8, 2008 - 10:31 PMThere is an excellent book out called " Some Simple Tryptamines " ( second edition ) by Keeper of the Trout and Friends 2007
See: www.entheobiblica.com
This book covers several species of Bufo toad and gives various scientific accounts of their active alkaloid profiles using Gas Chromatography
etc. It also contains information on a full spectrum of Tryptamine sources in plants, fungi, and animals ( including sea life ). Lots of chemistry and excellent colour photos of mushrooms !
